"Viže inu griže" (could be translated as “Blues'n'flux” or “Folksongs and diarrhea”) is a performance fueled by rich Slovenian* folksong heritage. Simply said, it is a musical consisting solely of short, original, ages-old Slovenian folksong fragments. Songs are arranged in a convincing story that talks about young people, love, disappointment, jealousy, even murders and infanticides – about everything that was present in Slovenian past times and is still actual today.

The performance is slightly shifting away from classical folklore approaches and is flirting with folk-revival current which is quite popular in recent Slovenian music scene. Like folk-rock bands we want to put Slovenian “small-people” history on the stage and interpret it in a contemporary user-friendly way. That makes “Viže inu griže” a novelty in Slovenian and maybe even some wider cultural context.

*Slovenia? An important characteristic of Slovenia (2m inhabitants, member of European Union since 2004) is its diversification. This tiny piece of land in Middle Europe forms a juncture of large geographical units: the Alps, the Dinaridi massif, Pannonian and Adriatic basins, and four cultural areas: Slavic (LjubljanaZagreb 150km), Romance (LjubljanaVenice 250 km), Germanic (LjubljanaVienna 400km) and Hungarian area (LjubljanaBudapest 600km). Slovenia gained its independence in 1991 by ending its more than 40-year-long membership in Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia (22m inhabitants).
